Guys, Obama was ‘for gay marriage’ the last time he was campaigning, too, and post-election the first peep we hear about it from him is when he’s campaigning for reelection.
It’s an applause line, just like the pro-life garbage on the conservative side of things, and exists for the sole purpose of getting a ratings jolt and maybe conning a few very silly people into voting for him over a totally irrelevant social issue, rather than looking at the facts.
Fact is, social issues don’t matter. Gay marriage WILL be legal everywhere within the next twenty years, no matter what a few closed-minded individuals would like to believe, and abortion will still be legal in twenty years (although with any luck, late-term abortion will not be). Also, a person’s opinions on either of these matters don’t make or break whether they are good and/or competant people.
You know who I want to vote for? A candidate with the balls to respond to questions about issues like this with ‘no comment’ or by steering the interview back to issues that actually matter.

What about people who believe bisexuals are inevitably going to cheat (Because self control apparently isn’t a thing?) or suddenly realize that they are actually totally gay/totally straight and dump their partner for a member of the appropriate gender. I hear this sentiment a lot, often in the context of ‘I would never date a bisexual because’, which sounds an awful like biphobia to me!
Unfortunately, it’s human nature to find reasons to discriminate against each other, even within groups which already receive that treatment from the general population and ought to know better.

As much as I agree that messing with the race (or any other important aspect!) of a historical figure is stupid, I have to point out that your example of Liz Taylor as Cleopatra is really not applicable.
Cleopatra was of the line of Ptolemy, who became the Pharaoh of Egypt upon Alexander the Great’s death in 323BC. Ptolemy was Greek, so he would, yes, have been white, albeit a swarthy and most likely very tanned from his soldiering days white. His descendents, including Cleopatra (Who reigned from 51BC-30BC), would have continued to be white, since his dynasty adopted the Egyptian custom of marrying heirs to their siblings.
On the bright side, the Ptolemaic dynasty seems to have been very female-positive, with Kings and Queens ruling jointly since they had essentially the same claim to the throne?
I’m not trying to be rude, just making sure you’ve got your facts straight. It would be pretty embarrassing if you tried to use that example in a serious debate!
